The Autism Society Philippines’ Family Support Group sessions bring together parents, siblings, and other family members to share their journey of living with autism. Participants exchange experiences, drawing strength and insight from others facing similar challenges.

The Autism Society Philippines, together with this month’s host, ASP Cebu, welcomes both members and non-members united by the shared experience of autism. Our goal is to educate, empower, and inspire as we work towards building an Autism-OK Philippines.

Our Moderators:

Jane Ann S. Gonzales is a retired public servant and mother to a young adult on the autism spectrum. Formerly affiliated with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, she is currently the Program Director and Co-Owner of ILLC Davao Inc., a school that champions inclusive education, job readiness, and work placement. She helped establish the ASP Davao Chapter in 1995 and has since served as a resource speaker on autism parenting and advocacy.

Carlina "Babylin" Roa is the mother of Kalvin, a young adult on the spectrum who has been enriched through the ASP Autism Works economic empowerment program. A licensed Civil Engineer, Mommy Babylin found her true passion in Special Education and Counseling. She is the co-founder of Kite Strings Developmental Center, which supports those with developmental delays and guides families on their journeys.

Jacqueline E. Verbo,  currently the Vice President of ASP–Tuguegarao, is a mother of four, including a child on the autism spectrum. She now serves in the academe at a state university in Cagayan, where she continues to advocate for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families.

She graduated from De La Salle University with a degree in Computer Studies and is currently working as a Program Manager. She has been an active member of ASP since 2017, and is currently the cluster head of the ASP South Luzon Cluster.

Ma. Victoria "Marivic" Ramos, is the current Vice-President of ASP Laguna and a Community Development Professional. Marivic empowers families in the care and instruction of children and youth on the autism spectrum, as a valuable resource to the Autism Resource Center in Los Banos, Laguna. She is a single mother to Mico, a young adult on the spectrum.

Anna Dame M. Barbosa is a dedicated advocate who previously served as an ASP National Trustee. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Colegio de San Juan de Letran and has professional experience in customer support across both private companies and government agencies. Currently, Anna Dame serves as the ASP AUdventure Program Manager and is also a co-host of ASP PweDay, actively contributing to the organization's advocacy and outreach efforts..

Dr. Joy Sheelah Baraero-Era, affectionately known as Mommy Joy, is currently serving as the Secretary of the ASP Marikina . She holds a PhD in Philippine Studies from the University of the Philippines Diliman and is a Research Fellow at Far Eastern University in Manila. Beyond her professional achievements, she is a devoted mother to 19-year-old twin boys, Gab and Miggy, who are on the autism spectrum.

Diana de Ocampo is a single mother of two and has a younger brother on the autism spectrum. She graduated from De La Salle University with a degree in Computer Studies and is currently working as a Program Manager. Nilda Naperi Noda is a seasoned educator with over 25 years of experience in teaching, specializing in elementary education. She spent 21 years in private schools, including Sacred Heart College and Calayan Educational Foundation, Inc., where she also served as the OIC/Principal. Her extensive career also includes 4 years of experience in the public school system.

Beyond her role in education, Nilda has been actively involved in various community and alumni organizations. She was the former President of the Lucena East 2 Grand Alumni and currently serves as the Secretary of the QNHS Batch 87. She is also the President of the VSJ-Phase 1 Homeowners Association (HOA) and the Treasurer of the Autism Society Philippines Lucena.

A dedicated mother of four, Nilda balances her professional and community roles with her family life, showcasing her leadership and commitment to both her profession and community development.

Maria Joyla Ofrecia empowers families in the care and instruction of children and youth on the autism spectrum, as a valuable resource to the ASP Early Detection and Early Intervention Program, ASP Education Committee, and the ASP HOMEpowerment Program. She organized and mentored the ASP chapters towards good governance and sustainability as the ASP MM- Rizal Cluster Head.

Her eldest is Juris, a young man on the autism spectrum. She has been a hands-on mother and for almost 16 years, has been implementing home intervention programs along with other center-based interventions not just for her own son but also for other children on the spectrum.

Gemma Cruz-Calixihan or (“Mommy Gemma”) is the ASP Taytay Chapter President since 2018 but has been a member of the ASP since 2006. Mommy Gemma is happily married with two children, both girls. She took an MA in Special Education at UP Diliman in 2016. She retired from her corporate job in 2023 and is now a full-time mom.

Firstborn child Gabrielle is now 23 years old. She was diagnosed with autism at the age of 3, intellectual disability at the age of 12, and epilepsy at the age of 17. She is nonverbal and has a manifestation of aggressive behavior. Having a child on the spectrum is a lifetime commitment and a long-term challenge.

He is also a part-time college professor at the Columban College of Business and Accountancy, actively involved as Corp Sec of Metro Olongapo Chamber of Commerce and a Director for Commerce and Industry for PICPA Olongapo Chapter. He was a Past President of the Rotary Club of Subic and the Olongapo Subic Bay Bankers Association.

Beth Udquin, a dedicated public school teacher and guidance counselor at Teodoro R. Yangco Elementary School, extends her commitment beyond the classroom, serving as the Gender and Development Coordinator, National Drug Education Chairman, and Secretary of the T. R. Yangco E.S. Faculty Club. She also plays a crucial role as the Child Protection Focal Person at the school.

She earned 18 units for a Teaching Certificate for Professional Teacher from EARIST, where she successfully passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET). Currently pursuing a master's degree in Guidance and Counseling at EARIST, Beth combines her educational background with a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Psychology from PUP.

As a mother of two children on the autism spectrum, Cholo and Tristan, Beth's personal experiences drive her advocacy for autism awareness. Her stories, featured in Orange County, Manila Bulletin, The Bottom Line with Boy Abunda, and Istorya at UNTV Channel 37, resonate with others facing similar challenges. Beth actively serves as a resource person in various autism awareness talks, seminars, and conferences, playing a pivotal role as the BOT ASP National from 2012-2014. She also founded the ASP UP CAMP Manila chapter in 2010, holding key positions within the chapter from 2010 to the present.

Our Moderators:

Ma. Victoria "Marivic" Ramos, is one of the national trustee and the head of VisMin cluster. Marivic empowers families in the care and instruction of children and youth on the autism spectrum, as a valuable resource to Autism Resource Center in Los Banos, Laguna. She is a single mother to Mico, a young adult on the spectrum.

Merlyn M. Granada is the current Vice President of ASP Bacolod. Housewife and hands-on mother of Franz, a young boy on the spectrum.

Our Moderators:

Perlita So is currently an ASP National Trustee and the North Luzon Cluster Head. Mom to four children, two of whom are on the autism spectrum. Peng nurtures well-rounded skills, holistic well-being and social connection of children and youth on the autism spectrum, as well as grows our circle of diverse volunteers and corporate partners -- as the Program Manager of ASP PweDay.

Genevieve Cruz, past President of ASP San Fernando chapter and currently auditor of the same chapter, is a dedicated mother of three, with two of her children diagnosed with Autism. Passionate about supporting families navigating through their autism journey, she offers valuable opportunities for individuals on the spectrum and trains them towards a healthy lifestyle through the PweDay exercise sessions she conducts and the individualized personal weight training sessions she offers.

She advocates for more inclusive fitness spaces and adapts fitness programs to the unique needs of individuals on the spectrum.

Imelda Alviso is currently one of the ASP National Trustees and Cluster head of the South Luzon Cluster. Imee is the former treasurer of the ASP Metro South Chapter and a past president of the ASP ParaƱaque. A former OR nurse at Saint Luke's in Quezon City and a mom to two adults on the spectrum, Andrea and Paolo.

Carissa Africa Paco, or fondly called Mommy Cary, graduated with a Bachelor of Science Major in Marketing Management from DLSU-Manila. A solopreneur for Homecook Cary Food Products and an incorporator/co-owner and business operations consultant for Angels' Center for Learning and Progress. Mom to a 15-year-old teen on the spectrum, Alfonso.

Maria Joyla Ofrecia empowers families in the care and instruction of children and youth on the autism spectrum, as a valuable resource to the ASP Early Detection and Early Intervention Program, ASP Education Committee and the ASP HOMEpowerment Program. She organized and mentors the ASP chapters towards good governance and sustainability as the ASP MM- Rizal Cluster Head.

Her eldest is Juris, a young man on the autism spectrum. She has been a hands-on mother and for almost 16 years, has been implementing home intervention programs along with other center-based interventions not just for her own son but also for other children on the spectrum.

Emie Serdoncillo is currently the ASP ParaƱaque Vice President. She has been married for 24 years with two kids: a 24-year-old boy on the spectrum and an 18-year-old girl. She assists at the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and is an active church server.
