The Autism Society Philippines (ASP) is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to the well-being of persons on the autism spectrum disorder. We envision a society where Filipinos on the spectrum become the best of their potentials -- self-reliant, independent, productive, socially-accepted citizens of an Autism-OK Philippines.

ASP Family Support Group for April 2009

ASPs monthly family support group sessions bring together parents, siblings and other family members to talk about their journey in living with autism. Participants share their experiences and draw enlightenment and strength from others going through the same challenges. We welcome members and non-members to this intimate gathering. New ASP members are encouraged to join.

Ms. Carmel Almendrala with son Mike

For as long as there is ASP, there will always be Tita Carmel. Ms. Carmel Almendrala is one of ASP’s Board of Trustees. A former ambassador’s wife, she personifies diplomacy as you will always see or hear her representing ASP in media with poise, grace and intelligence in spite of the disconcerting circumstance of educating an ASD child. Her son, Michael is now 37 years old and his disability did not stop him from becoming a member of the Philippine Weightlifting Team and win medals for the country. He is also an independent member of the community working as an administrative staff of the Philippine Information Agency
