It was indeed a rare occasion for ARC on September 29, 2010. The Team presented to the UPLB Chancellor the Work, Live and Play program for young adults with autism in an enabling community.

The presentation was short, but the actions decided upon by the Chancellor, both immediate and medium to long term, were significant. The Chancellor made an impressive stand when he said that our young adults can become instruments of learning to the students by being visible in the University. He gave instructions to Atty. Torres to coordinate with people concerned in order that the immediate actions can be started this coming semester. The medium to long term actions need to be thoroughly studied and new partners and funders sought, since it will be first for the University.

During the presentation, ASP Laguna categorically stated the help it needs from the University – for the University to spearhead a Research and Development Project involving UPLB, the local government unit of Los Banos and ASP Laguna, that will help institutionalize new and existing support mechanisms in an enabling community, among others.
