The family is the basic social institution. It’s the cornerstone of a stable society. As part of the team, the family plays the most important role in the management of a child with autism. The forum will provide opportunities to parents of children with autism, professionals, SPED teachers and students to listen to parents like Ms. Erlinda Koe, ASP Chair Emeritus, Chrissy Roa, author of the book “Federic’s Flight”, Ms. Chelo Banal Formoso, editor of the Philippine Daily Inquirer Learning Section and Evert Malapad, ASP Trustee and President of ASP Metro South Chapter share their worries and triumphs as they journey with autism. Celebrity parents of persons with autism like Secretary Leila de Lima, Adel Tamano, Candy Pangilinan and Gigi Daza were also invited to also share their life’s journey with autism.
Dang Koe fondly known as Mama Dang, she has been an indefatigable autism advocate. Served as ASP National President for an unprecedented 3 consecutive terms and continues the advocacy as the 1st appointed Chair Emeritus of the society. Her eldest son, Gio, is now 16 y/o, and she extends her advocacy throughout her entire family in all ASP activities.
Mommy Chrissy is a communication and education specialist, owner of South Kids International School and a Program Consultant of Brighter Beginnings Day Care Center in Unilever, Phils. Served as ASP’s VP (2005-2007). Fedi, her son is now 15 year old and a 4th year high school student at the New Era University.
Chelo Banal Formoso, is the Editor of Learning Section of the Philippine Daily Inquirer (PDI) . Her brother Conrado, a columnist of PDI was instrumental in paving the way for a more autism friendly mall environment in the Philippines.
Daddy Evert is the president of Autism Society Philippines-Metro South Chapter and a Trustee of ASP National Office. Earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Technology. Presently teaching adult program for individuals with special needs at Candent Learning Hauz in Piñas City. He just completed his Masters Degree in SPED and BS Secondary Education at the University of Perpetual Help–Las Piñas City. A father of a 16 year-old girl with autism.
