Seminar on Early Detection of Children with Autism

In line with the theme of the 15th National Autism Consciousness Week which is “Autismo Paghandaan:Maagap na Deteksyon at Interbensyon Isakatuparan”, ASP National Office in partnership with the Social Services Development Department (SSDD) of Quezon City will be having a seminar on Early Detection of Children with Autism on January 17, 1PM at the Day Care Center of Project 6 Quezon City. The activity will be participated by sixty (60) Day Care Teachers from district I of Quezon City.

The seminar is part of ASP’s project to train Barangay Health and Day Care Teacher to detect (not diagnose) signs and symptoms of autism and make proper referrals. It is the initial step to be followed by early intervention where children with autism (CWA) are taught the basic skills like sitting, waiting, coming when called, toileting and walking. Early detection is the a key for an and early intervention bring forth significant improvements in the child’s functioning. Early detection and early intervention (EDEIP) are vital in the development of CWA to become productive members of the of the community.
