The Autism Society Philippines (ASP) is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to the well-being of persons on the autism spectrum disorder. We envision a society where Filipinos on the spectrum become the best of their potentials -- self-reliant, independent, productive, socially-accepted citizens of an Autism-OK Philippines.

Carmel and Mike

For as long as there is ASP, there will always be Tita Carmel. A retired Ambassador's Wife, Tita Carmel personifies diplomacy as she faces the media with poise, grace & intelligence. Against all odds, she worked tirelessly to advocate for her son Michael and for others who are like him. Serving as trustee since 1995, she reminds young mothers of children with autism: Grab every opportunity and don't take no for an answer. This is evident in her son Mike, who is a Special Olympian Medalist of The Philippine Powerlifting Team, a 2005 candidate for The Apolinario Mabini Award, & an independent member of the community working as an administrative staff of The Philippine Information Agency. Tita Carmel is a recipient of the 2010 "National Ulirang Ina" award given by The "Ulirang Ina & Ama Foundation of The Philippines."
