The Autism Society Philippines (ASP) is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to the well-being of persons on the autism spectrum disorder. We envision a society where Filipinos on the spectrum become the best of their potentials -- self-reliant, independent, productive, socially-accepted citizens of an Autism-OK Philippines.

By: Jacqueline Garcia, ASP Molino, Cavite Chapter President

The Autism Society Philippines Molino Chapter conducted an art workshop with the theme “Nurturing the Lives of Children with Autism through Landscape Painting” last 09 March 2013 at Portofino, South Almanza 2 Las PiƱas City with 34 participants, consisting of 9 children with autism, 5 siblings, 10 parents, 6 professionals, 2 students and 2 caregivers.

The Landscape painting workshop was an opportunity for families living with autism to feel, explore and enjoy the serenity of nature. CWAs and their family members showed enthusiasm for learning color, composition, abstraction, value and other art basics by observing their surroundings. Art therapy is a valuable tool in nurturing creativity, reconciling emotional conflicts, fostering self-awareness, and spurring personal growth -- whether you are on the spectrum or neuro-typical.

This event would not have been possible had it not been for the kind help of Ms. Tess Caraig, who sponsored the refreshments and the venue. Salamat po!
