Autism Society Philippines along with the Association of the Visually Impaired and Down Syndrome Association of the Philippines forged a partnership with Philippine Airlines (PAL) by conducting the First PAL Seminar on Handling Passengers with Disabilities last March 21, 2013 at the 3rd Floor of the Multi Purpose Hall,PAL Inflight Center MIA Road, Baltao, Parañaque City.

Through the initiative of Ms. Cita Revilla-Yabut, VP Marketing and Gerardo Rustia, Manager-Inflight Services Training Division, almost one hundred PAL employees from different department came to attend the seminar. Sales and Reservations, cabin services, Customer Relations, Medical, Safety, Product Research and a few more related departments were all well represented.
The seminar aims to educate the airline’s front liners about the different disability groups and how to handle them before, during and after the flight to ensure a safe and convenient trip not only for the PWD and their family but to everyone.
Ms. Dang Koe, ASP Chairman Emeritus, was one of the speakers. Also present from ASP were Ms. Jan Peña, President, and Ms. Gina Bermudo, Board of Trustee.
At the end of the seminar, all the participants unanimously joined the ASP representatives in a video shoot to show their support of the “1Pangako” advocacy campaign. Most of the participants express their willingness to help in spreading awareness for the cause of the persons with disability.
May this event be the beginning of a continuous partnership between the Philippine Airlines and the various disability groups to make air travel be more friendly to passengers with disability.

I was so amazed about this seminar that was conducted by Gina Bermudo,ASP trustee in partnership between Autism Society Philippines and Philippines Airlines in handling passengers with disablity. My name is Jocelyn,I have a 10 y/o son with autism.We are scheduled to travel from LAX to Manila this June .I would like to know how we could check-in our luggages so convenient for my son. Please let me know what are yor procedures for us to avoid the crowd/long lines. Is there any certain lines/gate to accumodate the children with special need? Thank you so much.
