The Autism Society Philippines (ASP) is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to the well-being of persons on the autism spectrum disorder. Seminar on Developing Social Skills For Children With Autism

Children with autism encounter difficulties with social interaction including building relationships, verbal and non-verbal communication, play and imagination. They need explicit teaching strategies and consistent exposure to practice so that they may acquire these skills at a level that is meaningful and relevant to them. In this seminar, the participants will learn the value of facilitated play, social stories, peer groups and other practical ideas to help their children develop social skills so that they can discover and enjoy the social world.

The seminar is divided into two parts. The first part aims to help parents and teachers understand the different aspects and the development of social skills among children with autism, and the challenges they may encounter. The second part discusses the different models, strategies and activities that may be used at home and in school to facilitate interactive play skills and developing friendships.
