The Autism Society Philippines (ASP) is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to the well-being of persons on the autism spectrum disorder. We envision a society where Filipinos on the spectrum become the best of their potentials -- self-reliant, independent, productive, socially-accepted citizens of an Autism-OK Philippines.

ASP celebrated Mothers Day with a Family Support Group Meeting

Autism Society Philippines celebrated the Mother’s Day with a Family Support Group Meeting, facilitated by ASP UP CAMP Manila Chapter President Jeng Rodriguez. The FSG was held in ASP National Headquaters last 21 May 2016. The session brought together parents to talk about their journey with their child with autism, share their experiences and draw enlightenment and strength from others going through the same challenges.

Participants expressed how they felt and shed their tears from the difficult challenges. They were concerned about the behavior of their children; and the road ahead to raising them to be good productive Filipinos.

Mommy Jeng also shared her experiences, the challenges and struggles in order to advocate the rights of her son. Her love and passion leads her to help and influence more other parents. ASP UP CAMP Chapter being among the biggest in ASP is a testament to her diligence and hard working to inspire others.

After the session, one mother realized and said that “It’s not impossible for my child to be highly functional.”

About the contributor. Lloyd Ngo worked as an ASP intern when he attended Independent Living and Learning Center. He began working in 2012 as an encoder at the Ongkiko Manhit Custodio and Acorda Law Offices in Makati. He is currently ASP’s Program Assistant for Communications.
