Many children with autism spectrum disorder have associated medical conditions which may include gastrointestinal concerns. Core deficits in social communication and interaction serve as barriers to identify this correctly. This is why ASP is partnering with The Medical City in Pasig to help validate a parent questionnaire that will help diagnose GI concerns in children with limited communication skills.
Participants to this initiative must:
- Be children, aged 4 to 12 years old.
- Must bring a formal autism diagnosis.
- With and without GI concerns (such as chronic stomach aches, vomitting, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, among others).
This initiative is part of research on Gastrointestinal Symptoms in children with autism spectrum disorder by Dr. Jean Dy. This will be supervised and co-authored by Dr. Lourdes Tanchanco, a Developmental Behavioral Pediatrician and Dr. Almida Reodica, a Pediatric Gastroenterologist.
ASP leaders are encouraged to promote this within their communities and LGUs. It is open to all families with autism, even those who are not members of ASP.
Please fill out the on-line form below and you will receive a call or text from Dr. Jean Dy with your appointment. Please hurry as there are limited slots.
UPDATE: This offer is no longer available. Please communicate directly with Medical City.
