The Autism Society Philippines (ASP) is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to the well-being of persons on the autism spectrum disorder. We envision a society where Filipinos on the spectrum become the best of their potentials -- self-reliant, independent, productive, socially-accepted citizens of an Autism-OK Philippines.

The Autism Society Philippines Vice President Chrissy Roa led the Family Support Group at the ASP National Headquarters last 20 May 2017. ASPs monthly family support group sessions bring together parents, siblings and other family members to talk about their journey in living with autism. Participants share their experiences and draw enlightenment and strength from others going through the same challenges.

Ms. Chrissy guided the participants in discussions on practical approaches to guiding our children with autism -- giving household chores, how to stretch our patience, inspiring extended family members to understand, managing frustration and anxiety from inability to communicate, among other real life challenges.

Participants shared key learnings from the day’s sessions:

“My son is a blessing. My husband and I love him unconditionally.”

“I need to be more patient. I need to understand him more.”

“Autism can be handled in proper way. Maituturo ang lahat ng bagay through coordination within the family.”
