The Autism Society Philippines (ASP) is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to the well-being of persons on the autism spectrum disorder. We envision a society where Filipinos on the spectrum become the best of their potentials -- self-reliant, independent, productive, socially-accepted citizens of an Autism-OK Philippines.

SM Cares and ASP to launch Artismo Virtual Art Exhibits

The Autism Society Philippines is one with the nation in commemoration the National Arts Month

ASP and SM Cares, present the interactive "ArtiSMo: A Virtual Art Exhibit" -- a series of 360 degree experiences which will take the viewer to their favorite mall to view the creations of talented visual artists on the autism spectrum! Without having to enter slow-loading 3D environments or scroll through a boring series of images, virtual exhibit visitors can view the featured artworks on their mobile devices. The exhibits will be launched via Facebook, on the remaining week-ends of February 2021.

The image shows blended colors aqua, green, yellow and white background.

Artismo: Kenrick Albert Cheng. Visitors can virtually visit SM Mall of Asia to see Ken Cheng's deliberate brush strokes on canvass beginning 19 February 2021, Friday at 5pm. Ken is a talented young artist on the autism spectrum. What he cannot say verbally, he would express in colors. This timid young man has mounted solo art exhibits at the SM Supermalls in the past and continues to take classes to improve his technique. In the “better normal”, Ken attends the weekly ASP PweDay sessions with his friends in fun on-line activities -- this makes his happy. He has translated his art into a line of wearable items, storage bins and canvas bags, as he takes the first steps into entrepreneurship. Artismo: ASP Sta. Rosa. Beginning 26 February 2021, Friday at 5pm, visitors may also digitally travel to SM City Sta. Rosa and be amazed by the colors of the artworks of the equally vibrant ASP Sta. Rosa community artists: Caryll Alvarez, Gianella Amandy, Arl Hans Barleta, Airam Cinco, Noelle Cruz, Christopher Flores, Audrey Laderas, Lorenzo Medina, Jorel Naval-Alegre, and Primo Obsequio. This effort comes at the heels of "Makulay na Mundo ng Autismo" -- another virtual exhibit held by ASP Sta. Rosa, in commemoration of the 25th National Autism Consciousness Week last 18-24 January 2021.

"The ASP Artismo program believes in the power of art as a medium of self expression," shares Ms. Mona Magno-Veluz, ASP National President. "and it is something that we leverage in building a genuinely Autism-OK Philippines.

The ASP Artismo is the culture and arts platform of the Autism Society Philippines. It harnesses the beauty of art as a form of self-expression and elevates the skills of artists on the spectrum towards a creative vocation.
