The Autism Society Philippines (ASP) is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to the well-being of persons on the autism spectrum disorder. We envision a society where Filipinos on the spectrum become the best of their potentials -- self-reliant, independent, productive, socially-accepted citizens of an Autism-OK Philippines.

Meet the Candidates for ASP Davao Officers 2021-2022

The Autism Society Philippines Davao Chapter will be electing its new Officers, who will serve for the year 2021-2022 -- between 28 June - 11 July 2021.

The Election Committee, composed of Cenin Faderogao (EleCom Chair), Abby Mendoza and Angel Penaloza reviewed seven (7) nominees for the minimum criteria set in the ASP By Laws. Upon election, the officers will hold an internal vote on who will take posts in the Executive Committee: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and Auditor.

Candidate #1:
Lorna Perpetua Gomez (Davao City)
Last ASP Davao Position Held: New Candidate
Occupation: Entrepreneur/Lessor
Education: BS in Commerce
Advocacy Accomplishment: Pioneer member of ASP since 1996. One of the Incorporators and officers of RICAFI which was created in 1996, the first intervention center in Davao City empowering the parents through education. Continuously advocates the parent empowerment and family support which was the intention when ASP Davao City was created also in 1996 by conducting seminars, etc. Advocating thru her son by spreading awareness about autism and to be accepted and included in a community. Dreams to have a concrete "adult" program in Davao City.

Candidate #2:
Maria Fe L. Lontac (Davao City)
Last ASP Davao Position Held: New Candidate
Occupation: Full time Housewife
Education: Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (Saint Mary's College, Tagum City, Davao del Norte)
Advocacy Accomplishment: Inspires fellow parents with children on the spectrum to join our advocacy. President of SPED Parents and Guardians Support Group at SPED Catalunan Grande Elementary School, an active member of ASP Davao Chapter since November 2018.

Candidate #3:
Uswaldo Parrenas (Davao City)
Last ASP Davao Position Held: Chapter President
Occupation: Businessman
Education: Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (Silliman University)
Advocacy Accomplishment: Active in ASP advocacy since he has a daughter who is in the spectrum. Closely coordinating the chapter's projects with the Davao LGU as well as other private institutions and advocates during his term. He tried to rally to increase the chapter's membership and to improve the services to the members . Worked with some foundations to foster collaborations with the stakeholders. His goal is to have a chapter that is self-sustaining and be able to give full services to the society outside Metro Manila as ASP Davao has been top notch in the attendance to the Angel Walk for Autism.

Candidate #4:
Imelda E. Rendon (Davao City)
Last ASP Davao Position Held: New candidate
Occupation: Program Director of Rainbow Intervention Center for Autism Foundation Inc. (RICAFI)
Education: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Ateneo de Davao University). Bachelor of Science in Education (Mindanao Kokusai Daigaku)
Advocacy Accomplishment: She has been a speaker for ASP's Autism Sensitivity Orientation. She trained the job coaches for ASP’s Autism Works Program.

Candidate #5:
Agnes Tatoy (Davao City)
Last ASP Davao Position Held: New Candidate
Occupation: Public School Teacher-Master teacher handling Special Education
Education: Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology (University of the Immaculate Conception). Bachelor in Elementary Education - Area of Concentration- Science Masters in Educational Management (Rizal Memorial Colleges)
Advocacy Accomplishment: Developed Project based learning and Parent-Child Tandem for young entrepreneurship for sped continuity plan on the autism spectrum with collaboration with the LGU's specifically Barangays in Davao City.
