Happily Ever After: A Virtual Costume Contest

We all may not be able to go out for trick or treat this year; but we can still have fun from home. Join our first ever Autism Society Philippines virtual costume contest and get a chance to win prizes! You can send your entries between 23 October to 1 November 2020.

MECHANICS:

(1) The contest is open to children and youth on the autism spectrum. No age limits.

(2) Dress up as your favorite cartoon hero or villain. Spooky or macabre costumes are discouraged.

(3) Take a photo, dressed in your costume. Photos from previous years are also acceptable.

(4) Send the best photo (just one) to ASP FB Messenger, with your name, mailing address and contact mobile number.

(5) Contestants will be invited to attend the Happily Ever After: A Virtual Costume Contest Launch Zoom event on 28 October 2020, Wednesday at 2pm to play a animated movie quiz and to talk about their costumes.

(6) Contestants may still send their entries until 1 November 2020, Sunday noon.

(7) Photos will be posted on the ASP FB Page. Voting via Facebook likes will run from 28 October 2029, Wednesday to 1 November 2020, Sunday, midnight.

(8) Criteria: Overall Impact (40%), Match toTheme (20%) and On-line Votes (40%).

(9) One winner for the Male and Female categories will be announced on 2 November 2020, Monday via the ASP Facebook Page and Instagram. The prize includes P1,000 and a gift pack.

Tala: Dance for Autism

The song "Tala" was popularized by Sarah Geronimo, who played a woman on the spectrum in the 2019 film "Unforgettable". The song is associated with iconic dance moves that have again been pushed into the spotlight. We invite all to prepare for the Angels Walk for Autism 2020 by learning the viral “Tala” dance steps!

1. LEARN THE STEPS.
  • The viral steps will be our warm up before the walk.
  • Participants get to be in the BIGGEST #taladancecraze yet!
2. JOIN THE VIDEO CONTEST.
  • Assemble a group of five (5) or more dancers, dancing in the same place. Autism is NOT a requirement. The more, the merrier!
  • Wear the NEW and official (not copies/fakes) ASP Angels Walk for Autism icon shirts. Get yours here: http://bit.ly/343FzHH
  • Film your dance, which must last at least one (1) minute. Dance only, no skits and no spoken explanations. Check the sample below.
  • Upload as a PUBLIC video on Facebook with the following description: “Angels, let’s walk AND DANCE for Autism on January 26, Sunday at the MOA Arena! #angelswalk2020 #taladancecraze #AutismOKPH”.
  • In the comment section, share the group’s backstory.

  • Judges will select one (1) winner based on overall creative impact of video.

Angels Walk for Autism 2020 Icon Shirt Design Competition

Autism Society Philippines has been creating unique tshirts for Angels Walk for Autism participants since the walk first began in 2007. These shirts which were designed as souvenir items back then, have metamorphosed to icon shirts which reflect the aspirations of our community. The signature green has become an ASP trademark in disability community events. They have also become a favorite item of clothing for advocates, individuals with autism and their families who wear them year round.

ASP is launching the search for the Angels Walk for Autism 2020 TShirt Design!

Who can join?
1. The contest is open for all members of ASP, with or without autism, regardless of age.
2. An artist may submit as many entries as he wants.
3. Multiple artists may collaborate on entry/entries.

What must be submitted?
1. Digital artwork, which may be scanned versions of art in any medium
2. Design must include the text “Angels Walk for Autism” -- the central theme
3. Dimensions: Max 10 inches x 10 inches
4. Resolution: 300dpi
5. Maximum of 3 solid colors and must be suitable for rendering on a green shirt

How do we enter the contest?
1. Digital artwork must be submitted to autismphils@gmail.com as attachments or Google Drive links. Other services like Dropbox or Box.be will NOT be accepted.

2. Subject line MUST read: ANGELS WALK TSHIRT CONTEST / Name of Artist.

3. Body of email MUST include the following (The text can be edited to suit the number of artists who worked on the entry):

I/We, Names of Artist/s, acknowledge that the attached entry is (a) wholly original; (b) does not incorporate or include any material that would require the consent of any third party; and (c) does not violate any copyright, trademark, publicity right, privacy right, or any other right of any third party.

I/We agree that ASP shall have the right to edit, composite, scan, duplicate or alter the entry design for any purpose which it deems necessary or desirable, without the need for any further compensation, and/or permission.

By entering, I/we acknowledge/s, agree/s and understand/s that the winning design will become the exclusive property of Autism Society Philippines (ASP), which retains exclusive rights to the reproduction.

4. Please send one email per entry.

5. Submission must be received before 5pm of 30 July 2019.

How will winners be selected?
1. The winners will be selected based on the following criteria:
• Originality (30%) - Design innovation and uniqueness.
• Creativity (30%) - Artistic and appealing arrangement of the design elements.
• Relevance (20%) - Suitability to theme and purpose of the event.
• Manufacturability (20%) - Can be rendered on fabric at best cost and quality

2. The names of the judges will be announced shortly.
3. Winners will be announced by 6 September 2019, Friday.

What will the winners receive?
1. The winning designer/s will receive P10,000.00.
2. The winner/s will be recognized and featured on the ASP blog and social media channels.

The search is on for the Angels Walk for Autism 2017 TShirt Design!

Kindled by last year's Abbey Road-inspired design created by PWAs Kim Austria, Vernice Prado, Javee Fua and Kobie Trambulo from Bridges Foundation, ASP is launching the search for the Angels Walk for Autism 2017 TShirt Design in the hopes of discovering more PWA design talent!

Who can join?
1. The contest is for persons with autism (PWA), regardless of age.
2. PWA must complete 80% of the design; and can be assisted by a neurotypical individual.
3. An artist may submit as many entries as he wants.
4. Multiple PWAs may collaborate on one entry.

What must be submitted?
1. Digital artwork, which may be scanned versions of art in any medium.

On-the-Spot Drawing Contest 2011

“Truly Artistic... Proudly Autistic” is the tag line ASP uses in promoting the artistic talents of PWAs. Last 17 January 2011, more talents were discovered during the On-The-Spot Drawing Contest, which was held at the Social Hall of Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Diliman, Quezon City. The event was part of the week-long celebrations of the 15th Autism Consciousness Week.

ASP President, Grace Adviento, welcomed the participants and their teachers. ASP Treasurer, Evelyn Go, Executive Director Ranil Sorongon and Ms. Nelia Cepeda of Philippine Information Agency came to support the event. The respected judges of the said contest were; Teacher Baldwin Kho, visual artist; Arch. Rizal Morales of DOTC; Mr. Rizalio Sanchez of NCDA and Ms. Ma. Veronica Miguel of DPWH.

Winners of the On-The-Spot Drawing Contest as follows:
Self-Contained Category: 1st Prize: Ralph Sy (Independent Living Learning Center), 2nd Prize: Tejay Serrano (Barrio Obrero Elementary School) and 3rd Prize: Jeremiah Panganiban (Lagro Elementary School).

Mainstream/Inclusion, Elementary Category: 1st Prize: Rosel Conrado Sobremonte (Eulogio Rodriguez Integrated School); 2nd Prize: John Ray Angelo Madulid (Makati Sped Center) and 3rd Prize: Jerome Neil Bravante (Makati Sped Center).

Mainstream/Inclusion, High School Category: 1st Prize: Karlo Turbolencia (New Era School) and 2nd Prize: Rachel Celine Torres (New Era School).

The said contest was co-sponsored by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), House of Representatives (HOR), Department of Education (DepEd) and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
